FAQs
What is RSS passthrough?
+RSS passthrough refers to the way that audio is delivered from the creator to the listener: it’s “passed-through” without any modification, caching, or change in material. This way, Acast’s creators can be sure that their content is delivered intact, with all the ads and other monetization elements that they have selected. Acast requires that all partners agree to RSS passthrough, and you can view the terms and conditions here.
What kind of data does an RSS feed contain?
+RSS feeds are how all podcasts are syndicated to listening apps, like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, and hundreds of others. These feeds contain information about the show, and they’re updated whenever a new episode is published. Podcast RSS feeds need to adhere to ordinary RSS conventions, as well as the iTunes RSS tagging rules. The information in RSS feeds includes the show and episode titles, dates of publication, language, description of the content, website link, genre, images/cover-art, and of course the path to the audio file for the episode. This is what Acast provides when we provide access to our RSS catalog.
How can apps and developers work with Acast?
+Acast’s mission is to put our creators’ podcasts into more ears more often: if you are building an app or service that will achieve that, we’re here to work with you on an RSS-passthrough setup (see above) to make that happen.
What about non-technical partnerships?
+While many partnerships take place at the product level, we’re just as excited about non-technical partnerships that help us offer the best experiences for our creators and brand partners to grow their audiences.
What languages and countries are represented in Acast’s shows?
+Acast’s catalog is extraordinarily diverse: our shows span the globe, and include hits in English, French, German, Spanish … And our listeners represent every country in the world.
Integrate with our 100,000 podcast feeds or with our other technologies and change the future of podcasting.
