Wrapping up a momentous year for Acast UK

Wrapping up a momentous year for Acast UK

Written by Nick HarnettMarketing Manager, UK & IE2022.12.06

2022 has been a huge year for Acast. With our first full year as a public company, and with over 50,000 new podcasts joining our platform, the Acast Creator Network has never been in a stronger position.

The UK is at the heart of that boom. This year, we have welcomed some massive podcast talent to Acast, including Peter Crouch, Sir Lenny Henry, Gemma Collins and Rio Ferdinand. We’ve also renewed our partnerships with chart-toppers including Sh**ged Married Annoyed, Katherine Ryan and the Help! I Sexted My Boss team.

To add the icing on the cake of a brilliant year for the Acast Creator Network, four out of five of Apple’s ‘5 Shows We Loved’ this year are Acast shows.

  1. Hoaxed from Tortoise
  2. 28ish Days Later from the BBC
  3. The Rest Is Politics
  4. NearlyWeds

We have renewed partnerships with all four of these shows and their networks in the past 18 months - testament to the strong relationships we foster with our creators.

On top of that, Acast shows make up over 50% of Apple’s top followed shows of 2022.

  • The Rest is Politics
  • That Peter Crouch Podcast
  • Sweet Bobby
  • The Rest is History
  • Off Menu
  • High Performance
  • The Trojan Horse Affair (NYT)
  • NearlyWeds
  • Sh**ged Married Annoyed
  • Happy Place

And of Apple’s top shows of the year, Acast shows make up 60% of the list

  • Off Menu
  • Sh**ged Married Annoyed
  • The Rest is Politics
  • Happy Place
  • The Adam Buxton Podcast
  • High Performance
  • Today in Focus
  • The Rest is History
  • You’re Dead To Me (BBC)
  • Table Manners
  • Newscast (BBC)
  • Serial (NYT)

As we close out 2022, podcasting continues to thrive - and with even more big names (shhhh super secret) to join the Acast Creator Network next year, now is the time to join in on the conversation with the biggest, most followed, most listened-to podcasts in the world.
